Love to help if we can :}

We need to know a lot more to figure out whats happening.
Your scanner?
What is it scanning as?  What type of output does it produce?  It could be anything from TIF to PDF and it might have built in a silly paper size (such as "letter") which can distort it when viewing in some other program
Where have you stored the output file?
What do you open the output file with?
Have you seen the "not the same problem on the screen?  or printed out?

Sorry to get into the detail, but that is where its going wahoonie-shaped

What is the problem that you are noticing?  is it size, or distortion?
Would pictures illustrate the problem - ?  a photo of the original and a photo of the scan?
happy to help if we can

Andrew
the scanner is a lexmark all-inone printer model No x2550. I am trying to scan the bodylines off the original plan, but they are not being produced at the same size the scanner scans at 600dpi the page is set to A4, the printer is Samsung ML1610 Laser mono and the scans are saved as .jpeg. and i am using windows XP. I hope this info helps.

It may also be the software you are using.

I use PaintShoPro V4 and 7 and with that it's perfectly possible to produce the most awful screw-up you can imagine unless you have the settings right. The vital thing is to ensure the aspect ratio of the file you are working with always stays the same, then you can upscale and downscale without distiortons setting in.

If you're scanning directly to the printer part of your all-in-one, without using software on the PC,  it would pay to check the settings of that to ensure the aspect ratio remains the same too.

Hi there,

I've had this problem alot, it's a real cow to solve. First, 600dpi is MAHOOSIVE, a bit overkill for plans. Maybe if you were scanning 16th century oil paintings, but 150 dpi is sufficient for greyscale line art  :-)). Also, if you want things to be correctly sized, don't print from windows photo viewer or anything. Photoshop is your friend, if photoshop says it's an A4 canvas, and the lines look right, then it is going to print right no matter what dpi it's set to - guarenteed. Windows picture viewer prints to whatever it wants and you have no control at all. Photoshop is also good for stitiching entire plans together that you've scanned in. If you don't have photoshop you can get trial version or Adobe Photoshop Elements in many places.

That's my standard solution :-).

Will.

Are the prints consistently smaller or larger than the original, "not the same" is not too much help. If they are consistently smaller then check your printer settings. The scanner scans the whole A4 page size but most printers cannot print to the edges of an A4. It is likely that your printer settings say "fit to page" or similar, disable that setting and then try.
