Somebody told me recently ( I can't remember who it was) that this company was no longer trading.  I can't confirm this though.

A little bird told me that he'd spotted Mr and Mrs Harrison of Model Solutions over here in the UK in the last two weeks. DH comes from Ipswich originally so maybe they've taken a holiday to visit relatives?

I have noticed, however, that his SFX5.3 Sound Unit has been "temporarily out of stock" for quite some time now  %)

well maybe there could be an opening for someone in the UK who makes sound units and speed controllers to copy it if they are out of production. now who do we know that could do that. ok2

I can assure you that Model Solutions are still trading as I have been communicating with them regularly over the last couple of weeks and found David Harrison to be very responsive to all communications.

I would check the e-mail address you are using or maybe your own spam filter because I have had no problem right up until today.

Dave Harrison has been here in the UK recently but even found time to email me during his vacation. He answered my query as soon as he returned to Canada and has since dispatched an order to me.
Exemplary customer service!

He's full of little gems like this one. I've no idea where he gets them all from, but I do know he's an avid Radio 4 listener 'cos I've caught him out nicking Andy Hamilton's material a couple of times.

True, true. But it seems that Modelsolutions, to their credit, did not set deliberately set out to rip anyone off. I think it's more a case of bad timing, and B'barge just got unlucky. Although, to spend nearly 400 Canadian dollars is not to be sniffed at. Perhaps M'solutions may offer him a discount or somesuch on their latest sound unit.
Personally, I still can't help thinking that their prices are maybe a tad on the high side. I'm not sure that I'd want to spend twenty-three Canadian dollars for a piddly 4-inch loudspeaker.

I first saw this company in Model Boats magazine, it was a reveiw of one of their transmitter expansion systems. I read the article and thought 'yeah that's a good idea'. Then I read the price and my jaw dropped into the carpet and the page in the magazine was duly changed...

I seem to remember that my speaker I bought off Dave for my sound system was £4...

Talking of Radio 4 (and slightly off topic), around the same time every morning, 12:45'ish, they play a nice orchestral piece just before they read the shipping forecast.
Those guys in the woodwind section blow me bandy every time I hear it. Does anyone know the name of that piece? Is it available in the shops?

Hi PMK

Hopefully this will help. The following text is from the BBC online weather site:

The music played before the Shipping Forecast is 'Sailing By' composed by Ronald Binge. Unfortunately, the version of 'Sailing By' we use is not available commercially. However, a similar recording, featuring the late Ronnie Aldrich on the piano, has been issued by: Seaward Records Ltd, Strathallan Castle, Port St Mary, Isle of Man. The tune is also available on a CD, 'The Music of Ronald Binge', from Marco Polo Records, number 8.223515.

Regards

Thank you, Mr. Pioneer. With the info' you supplied I should at least be able to procure said CD from Seaward Record Ltd.
(I guess it's rather apt for a model boating forum that the piece has 'Sailing' in the title).

Many thanks once again for helping out.

Nah, and when presented with the correct answer, the response is "you may think that, I could not possibly comment" (Francis Urqhart)
