servo reverse and motor
« on: May 25, 2009, 02:31:05 pm »

This topic has probably been tackled in the past, but life is short and I want to test the boat  :D

The problem - Action ESC P68 (great little unit) plugged into a HiTec Feather reciever, ESC leads connected to motor, push the accelerator forward and the motor rotates, great, pull the lever into reverse and the motor excelerates, great, no problem I hear, until you realise the motor going forward is half the speed of that in reverse  {:-{

So I switched the motor leads - same condition, but motor running opposite direction as expected, so what is the problem, the faster speed is always when the accelerator is put into reverse, all my other boats work fine with the servo reverse switch set to normal, having to switch this is a pain, is there a way of changing this arround or should i just live with it.  :-)

Does t do the same with another motor?  Just in case its the motor rather than the ESC.
Does Dave think it could be a broken one?
Heath Robinson work-around, if a RH prop is fitted, swap it for a LH one, or verse-vice.  Full power forward, half in reverse.

No difference when switching contacts to motor, when the servo reverse is used, the motor is faster in forward and half speed in reverse, so it looks like i will have to do this, I can change the prop so it is not a problem, i just wanted to not have to switch the Tx servo reverse.

Thanks anyway - I love how small the P68 is.  :-))

Just to put the record straight, I apolgise to FLJ for any inference that the P68 is at fault, this was not the intention nor the case, i was interested in knowing if the way i had wired the motor etc was the reason for the difference in speed, my personal belief is that the fault is in my wiring - as i have stated i love the P68 and will continue to use it in all the boats that require it's use, I hope this rectifies my error.   :embarrassed: seriously  :embarrassed:

Phil
I've already forgiven you.
Reply to your PM is in the mail. It's pretty difficult to connect of these little beasties up wrong - there's only two wires and all they will do if you connect them in reverse is run the motor in the opposite direction.
