Hi Sentry
You'd better tell us which tug you're talking about and the scale please.

Harbor Models is an excellent source of 1/24 water tight doors, ports, liferings, ect. I have used their fittings on my American Enterprise (1/24) with good results. Shipping was prompt, and the fittings were of good quality.

Have you tried making your fittings? you get exactly what you want & it is cheaper & more
satisfying.

Nemesis, although I agree with what you say, not everyone has the skill, time, tooling etc. to make the bits. A more constructive reply would have been a little "how-to make-it" ditty. You and I both know that a w/t door takes only about 10 minutes with a Stanley knife an a file. Perhaps the questioner isn't up to that standard yet. Be kind. I learned the hard way on this forum and was quite properly made to feel pretty small and penitent (well, I wasn't really, and I'm still not a big fan of kits!). BY.

It may also be a time constraint thing for him. Or possibly, in the case of us older mariners, the arthritis and eyesight are an issue. In my case, it's less expensive to purchase what is available. My lack of patience forces me to redo the small bits over and over until the raw materials end up as dust on the work bench. {:-{

Hi ,Thank you gents for your replies it will only be my second boat as i have only been boat modeling for a year  but you are all right i don't yet have the skill, tools, or time yet  love tugs more so ones from the Tyne  this has been one huge learning curve but have  never enjoyed something so much in my life in time am hoping to learn but for now i have to use other peoples skills.. Brian your tyne ferry brings a tear to my eye so many memories of watching the Jarrow ferry as a lad.
