Our Lass trawler - Deans Marine/Model Slipway
« on: June 05, 2009, 06:55:46 pm »

In a post on 22nd June in the Wicksteed thread Deans Marine posted some shots of a model of Our Lass ii , then when I looked at Model Slipways' site today the are advertising their next release as, you've guessed it, Our Lass ii.
Anyone care to comment if this is co-operation between kit manufacturers or have we two of them producing a kit of the same vessel.
Parkol Marine in Whitby, the builders of the real one are having great success presently and similar boats have been built for Shetland owners

The Model slipway kit is 1:24 while the Deans ARTR is 1:32. Just can't see Model Slipway co-operating with a Chinese company so it must be some sort of fluke?

I would doubt if the Chinese company got their hands on the original plans ( the Naval Architect - S.C. MacAllister of Oban - would not be keen on handing over plans of one of the most advanced trawlers he has designed to a Chinese company ) but its not impossible I guess

She was in Peterhead on Thursday with 45t of fish for Fridays market
