Depends which vessel you refer to,
we built the met police launch that sails from whopping ( the met police marine support unit) - the flag shown on our LEGO model  looks like the met police logo on a blue background- i will try and find our reference material and check it is correct and not just something we  'altered' , i do know that we had to pay a fee( about £10)  to the met police to ' reproduce' their logos under licence,- for our fee they sent all the logos in electronic format so we could apply vinyl graphics to the vessel...  we communicated via the met police public relations office via the met police website....they were very helpful, i also know they have about 3 different types of boat so it may be worth checking which vessel flies which flag....
here is a picture of the boat before flags and graphics were applied

The Jolly Roger no doubt! ;D

Malc Read Business do some wonderful flags. They were the only people that could supply the flag I wanted recently.

Thanks for the referral.  I'll ask Carol to sort this one out tomorrow (Tuesday).

Incidentally, We used to supply Model Aircraft, Bournmouth (Veron) with the fittings for their Thames Police Launch kit many years ago.  We still have the moulds if anybody is building this model?  Phil Smith, Veron's Chief Designer now has the rights, and does produce plans for sale.  Phil is now well into his 80's and I must confess that I haven't heard from him for a while?

Hard to see from the photograph, but it looks to be a blue ensign** defaced with the Police Insignia?  The picture that Guy has attached is a model of a much later vessel than the one that  the original kit represented.

Regards, Malcolm Reade

** Blue ensigns are flown by unarmed official vessels, hospital and supply ships etc. Which makes me think that it would have been a blue ensign, rather than a red, but impossible to tell from the photograph.  (You can bet that the Cops would go for a nice shade of blue though.. ;D ;D).

Various organisations use defaced ensigns, Trinity House, The RNLI etc.  Police launches from this era would have been normally unarmed.
