Hi folks!
« on: June 08, 2009, 04:27:59 pm »

Hi folks,
I'm not too sure if this is in the right section or not, but I thought I'd say hello from sunny Spain. My name is Nige and I'm an alco...oops! Wrong forum  %% {-)
Anyway, my name IS Nige and I'm 57, semi retired and live just inland from the coastal town of Mojacar, south eastern Spain. I am a born again modeller having an interest in all things radio controlled, especially electric planes and boats and I have a website about my hobbies  HERE
We have just started a boating club at the Cuevas del Almanzora Mediterranean Games water center, where they held the sailing/wind surfing/canoeing championships in 2005. It's a boon to us as water is a little thin on the ground in these parts  %) {-) We are all new to the hobby and at the moment we just run fast electrics, thank you admin for your welcome message, I hope I can join in and add a little something.
All the best
Nige

Hi, Nige. My name is a weird one and I'm a fan of Jamaican ganja. Oops... wrong forum also!
You might wanna check out a member going by the moniker of Footski. He's somewhere around your neck of the woods, so perhaps another possible member to your band. Best behaviour, though - he's an ex bobby, which means no quaffing moonshine or smoking funny-smelling fags.
Welcome aboard.

Forgot to ask...
You somehow have squeezed a whole URL into just one word. In other words, the link to your site is truncated to HERE.
How did you do that?

Welcome to the Mayhem Nige,
(Cold drinks in the fridge!)

What type of ships do you like?

Thank you PMK and Martin for the welcome  :-))
Firstly I'm an old hand at forums and websites, I currently run around 5 forums and 6 sites so html and forum code come fairly easy to me. How did I truncate the link? Easy. I'll put a space between the sybols and a DOT instead of the .l so that it doesn't cause the link to be active.
[u rl = http: / / www. postcardfrom spain DOT com] [b ] HERE [ /  b] [/ url]
So if you remove all the spaces and replace the . you'll get the link. I also put HERE in bold to stand out.

Martin, I personally have a Hobby Engine 1 metre Swordfish with fibreglass hull which is waiting for a large brushless and ESC from HK, a Robbe Piranhia which I bought today, an nqd Arrow Wind which again is about to be converted to brushless and 2 hobbyzone Zig Zag boats.
I'll have a search for Footski, many thanks
Nige

I vaguely recall a similar 'how-to' from the pages of this forum many moons ago, but had clean clear forgotten how to implement it.
Many thanks for the heads-up.
