Workboat Maria

I had the good fortune to have a look around a working barge and workboat the other day so I thought I'd take a couple of shots.  The workboat is a perfect design for a springer and the barge might be of use to those who like to make barges for thier tugs to pull around.  The unit is actually a pile driver, used for placing pilings to which a dolphin is going to be fitted for tying up cruise ships.  It still amazes me that the piling is simply driven into the sea bed and three of them are then strong enough to hold a large ship.
