Suggestions for an RC trawler/tug kit please
« on: August 20, 2009, 01:14:36 pm »

Hi everyone.
I'm quite an old hand at static modelling, (boats and aircraft), but now wish to have a go at a bit of RC modelling. I've built three Corel models over the last few years and quite a few aircraft so I consider myself pretty proficient.
I need a model kit, (preferably a trawler or tug boat), which involves plank on frame construction as that's the bit I like most :-)
Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved
Thanks for your time,
Alec

Hi there, the only trawler plank on frame kit I can think of is the Billings Nordkap. There are several pof tug kits like Billings Smit Rotterdam and Mantuas Anteo.
If you look on the start up screen on this site you'll see a link to a listing of tug kits - have a look through there or alternatively go onto someone like Westbourne models website and see what they've got.
Hope this helps - and welcome to Model Boat Mayhem!!

Try this link below, they have photos of actual trawlers and also of models. Maybe you can find what you are looking for there.

Hi Alec, and welcome to the forum, the font of all learning - at least about model boats  O0

Westcoaster mentioned the Billing Nordkap as a plank on frame trawler. I built one of these last year and found it to be an excellent kit, you can read about it here
