New guy is dusting off his old Dumas Crockett
« on: August 22, 2009, 10:00:15 pm »

 I've been cleaning up my old model to try to get her back in the water. This Crockett was started @ 25yrs ago and I never really got it finished, it was last sailed 13yrs ago so I need a new battery or two.
I know that I have a few things that are not accurate also (wish I had the internet 25yrs ago). And of course I have the 7ft tall crew members as they are 1/35 crew on the 1/39 boat. But all in all I just want to get her running and correct things like the anchor placement etc that I now know are wrong. And maybe I will get some railings finished and a few more details here and there.
Anyway I thought I would post a few photos of what she looks like now and try to update later.
 Cheers!  :}

 Thanks for looking.

 I wish I could find some "on deck" photos of these ships, all the photos I find on the web tend to be too distant and blurry to pick out smaller details. I know I made a mistake with the anchor and coppied a small scale plastic model that a friend had, but that was the "second generation" ships starting with the "PG 92 Tacoma". The earlier ships did not have the anchor through the hull as the later ones did. I'm not very knowledgeable about ships in general, so I have no idea how details such as this should look. I don't have my Dumas plans anymore, but I remember they were pretty much lacking in details anyway.
 If anyone has any thoughts on "Crockett" details or a good source for photos please share your thoughts. Thanks.  ;)
