Hi Oh Great and Wise Ones,
can anyone help with the above, mine is 3 channel rear planes operational, power is 6v 4ah sla. apart from this, all else is as supplied.

Hi Kev,does it sail on the surface ok,i, have just bought the Seawolf,i,ve already got a type 7 and whilst it was a great runner on the surface it was,nt a good diver,but it was all down to ballast,i do know that the wolf does,nt take on as much water as the 7,therefore could it be forward thrust is,nt fast enough that,s prohibiting the dynamic dive to occur,its just a thought

that's my thinking, as i can get the nose down but as soon as i try to use the rear planes to get the a*** down to stop the prop surfacing up she comes. surface trim and ballast seems fine. decks awash sail out.
having fun though. once she dives ok, i my make forward planes operational.

on my type V11 the front planes are not servoed,their linked to a mechanism under the conning tower,that has a rod sticking up,i fitted a small oval piece of plastic to the top,approx 3in above the conning tower,prior to diveng i set the bow planes tilted down, and she dives perfectly,when i go under i keep the little"plastic paddle"above the water,if i take her down deeper,she automatically surfaces when the water forces the paddl back which in turn moves the bow planes
As I don,t have my Seawolf yet,can this be done with yours, or can you move the bow planes to the desired angle manually

that's how seawolf's front planes work, they take the nose down, but rear doesn't want to follow. may just need to get the angles right.
doesn't look good head down a *** up breaking the surface. not giving up though.

Hi,

You don't need the front vanes to work, you can lock them off with a slight down angle and bin all the Robbe gubbins that goes with them, you can dive dynamically with just the rear vanes as the sub will pull itself under with the speed IF ballasted correctly, fit a levelling device into the rear vane servo that can be overidden from the TX if and when reqd.

Thats how mine works and it works very well, as does my friends with exactly the same set up.

A thought:

Which way do the rear planes angle? Obviously the front ones will angle upwards to go down, do the rear ones go the opposite way? In theory this would push up the back to dive. What happens if you make the rear ones go the same way? I think this would make it slide downwards instead of trying to angle it downwards

Don't try and trim the boat to what Robbe recommend, they're very optimisitic.

Ballast the boat down to decks awash then it should slip under effortlessly.

Yes I would say that's about right.
It's a very buoyant boat and needs a lot of lead.

... I did manage a dive of about 2 hours.... my mate got it stuck in the weeds!

it is ballasted to decks awash i.e. just the sail and the top 2/3rds of the rudder above surface. should rear planes trailing edge go up or down todive.

I'm reckoning they should go up, refer to my earlier idea. I'm probably wrong though because I don't have one.

that's what i thought, or atleast wouldl stop the prop surfacing then level it once under. enjoying the learning curve though.

  Success watching closely it seemed to be lack of power, tried reverse full throttle instead of just for manouvering/ collision avoidance, and the stern immediatly hit the bottom of our 24" deep lake. reversed speed control and down she goes. Yippee great fun just need to learn to keep it level did manage half a circuit submerged a few times.

If you can stretch to a leveller, then that will improve things considerably.
