Substitute for Colron "Canadian Cedar" wood stain?
« on: November 07, 2009, 03:51:44 pm »

I'm currently working on building the cabins for my motor yacht model, which are covered with thin ply treated with Colron "Canadian Cedar" wood stain. This gives a very effective representation of varnished teak (better, in my opinion, than Colron's "Burmese Teak" which is rather dark and reddish). I've used the same product to stain the margin planks, bulwark rails and other varnished woodwork on the model.

I got about three-quarters of the way through building the cabins when I ran out of wood stain (I'd already used most of the tin to stain a set of shelves)  Unfortunately, none of the shops I visited in an attempt to buy more had any in stock, and after checking on the Colron website, it appears that this colour is no longer available (either that or its name has been changed)?

Anyone know what the best match for this colour would be? Colron "Antique Pine" looks fairly close, as it has a distinctly orange tone.
