Greetings,

I was wondering if there was a good way to search the British National Maritime Museum? They say that they have over 1,000,000,000 different drawings in the collection and I was looking to see if they have any drawings on the paddle steamer Lord Clyde / Advance / USS Advance - Frolic. These are all name for the same ship built at Greenock, Scotland, by Caird & Co. was launched on 3 July 1862 as the Clyde packet Lord Clyde. I tried to do a search and the search came back with 700 plus hits show medals, plates and other things. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there Andre,
Before you go to the NMM try the archives at the
Glasgow University http://www.gla.ac.uk/archives/

or the Mitchell Library http://www.mitchelllibrary.org/virtualmitchell/

they have alot of the original builders plans for the ships built on the Clyde

another place that may help is http://www.clydesite.co.uk/
