Just been reading some other posting, I see it's taken Martin a whole week to annonce the Wicksteed date for next year. We finished at Alfold 23 hours and 40 minutes ago, we will go again on 4th/5th June 2011
Book me in now Alan- don't loose the booking!!

What an excellent show!   Connie and I were at Beale park for the weekend for the Thammes Boat show.    I was meeting a num,ber of people wrt the IWA Festival at BP in August (see other thread).    We'd got that sorted on Saturday so decided to come down to Alfold on Sunday.    So many models!!   We had a great afternoon and Connie was very taken with scale sailing yachts of various types.    I hadn't realised that teh Portsmouth team were going to be there so was able to have a useful meeting with them as they're coming to Beale Park for me in August.

We'll definitely have the show in the diary next year again, hopefully bringing the caravan for the w/e.

Congrtaulations to everyone involved in the organisation.

Cheers

What can I say, this was the first time I have attended this show, and I was amazed, a really great great weekend. Many congratulations to Alan, Wendy and all who made it very memorable. Many fine models ( I know this as I was coerced into being a judge, and that was very difficult) and lots of trade, some of who took a few shillings from me.
And indeed I broke into the understudy £20 note to purchase ale for young Alan, and John (modelpower) purchased ale for my goodself, and then------welll you get the idea a great BBQ eve.
If you have never been before, book it into your diary for next year, you will not be disappointed.
Same space for me next year please Alan.

Thanks go to Steamboatphil for stepping in and judging the vast number of models at the show. This was the first time I had met Phil, what a gent he is and I am pleased that he noticed when he purchased the ale that it was for young Alan. So many others have not recognised this fact.

i was showing the pictures from alfold to another club member ( showing him what he missed)  and he has taken a shine to one of the models featured in the display,

i think it was dispalyed by a gentleman  under the name ' boat shack'

does anyone have any details for this modeller i can pass on ,

is he a business/trader as i think i overheard he is producing hulls/ kits  to order ???

I wish to thank everyone that attended the Alfold Charity Model Boat Show, Traders, Exhibitors and Visitors for making all the hard work worthwhile, a GRAND Total in excess of £3000 was made over the weekend, the majority going to the Merchant Seamen's home, the Guides and Sea Cadets also made money for their units.
