Don't think he's advertising his plans, looks like he just wants to know if any of us has built a boat from one,and if so, what our thoughts are. Seems fair enough to me.....Smudge.. O0

Thank you very much for having the common sense to see what I was asking. The support in your post was appreciated.

I was indeed the designer of the plans that were featured in Traplet. For the record I DONT get a commision from the sale of each plan sold. The payment from the publisher was a once only payment at the time of print, therefore me showing the links to them been sold serves me no financial gain what so ever.

What a shame that the people who felt the need to use angry icons didn't have the common sense to see the request for what it was, and may I also say poor moderation for jumping on the band wagon.

Maybe moderator could reinstate the deleted part of my post so that my question may be answered and those quick to condemn will apologise possibly with an appropriate icon  :P :P :P

Maybe the confusion would have been avoided if you had put the detail in your last post in your first one. Common sense applies 360.

It was the BL0WING of your own trumpet by describing them as " these lovely craft"  I thought that it  was up to us to say how good they are..If you had put like another member did "has anybody built from these plans", then you would of probably had a very different response.
your attack on the mods shows you did not even read the rules before your first post, they are there for a reason , we do not want to be bombarded with people just wanting to sell things.

If the mods thought it was advertising, why not just move to the "traders section" where some firms are allowed to advertise.

Could we offer this option to My Hobby Store so they could get some better pictures to go with their plans.

Doesn't look like it. My impression is that he calls them 'lovely craft' because he is proud of them. As he has stated that he profits nothing from their sale why not reinstate his post? To do so because the man protested seems a bit unsporting to me.

If anyone has got something they can do and re produce in one way or the other that is benificial to others, what is the problem guys?

I have seen many posts and threads on here over the years where people have said they will mould stuff etc and sell to others, I can name at least one trader on here that started up by doing this.

What the hell is wrong with asking that question? "What do you or did you think of my stuff?"

This is just wrong having a go at the guy when I read this post, all that  came accross to me that he was asking what everyone thought and nothing else.

I used to think this forum was good.

It's just turning into the same old over moderated farce that I have seen before.

Live and let live for goodess sake, just because you have a moderate button doesn't mean you have to use it at every opportunity.

Please remember... you can burn the books or delete the words but that doesn't mean it was never written.

Paul, you are quite correct in what you say about people selling to others, but the Mayhem Forum rules clearly state that you must have 25 posts before you can sell anything on Mayhem. If the original poster had merely said that he had designed some models, and was interested to know if anyone had built any of them, without including a link to a commercial enterprise, there would not have been a problem. I appreciate that he made no direct attempt to sell anything, but the link gave that impression, even if it was unintended.

I always thought you asked someone what they thought of something, not told them how good it was.

The amount of moderation on this site is tiny compared with the number of posts that are made. It is also very tolerant compared with other sites I belong to. Unfortunately people do try to take advantage from time to time, particularly with regard to selling things so the Moderation Team need to keep tabs on things. I think that the original poster gave the impression of talking up their own products whether intended or not and that the response of the moderators was correct in the circumstances. Moderators don't enjoy moderating, it is the proverbial pain in the posterior and to be avoided wherever possible but unfortunately it is from time to time necessary. Moderator bashing is an easy indulgence with no responsibilities. It's a different picture if you are sitting on the other side of the fence so put yourself in the Moderator's position before criticising - and don't assume, as so many people do, that everybody thinks just like you and your mates because that is not necessarily the case at all.

The "spirit" of Model Boat Mayhem is "contributory".....  if you have published plans that you would like to publicize, we have no problem with that but please be 'up front' about it.... it's all in the phrasing!

So having said all that, Martin Garrett, if you wish to 'reword' your original post / enquiry, along the lines indicated below, I'll happily delete this thread and let you start again.

Hi

I cannot vouch for all three plans, but, the first plan of the semi-scaled Air Sea Rescue Launch was originally a contender for the plan for the beginner article, in the master class build.   I proceeded as far as drawing sections of the plan out onto building material and then I stopped.  The reason being after talking with my son, and some lateral thinking I thought this would only appeal to a set number of people - which was defeating the main principle behind the plan for the beginner.   This plan will be okay, if you are going to build it and have, say, your young relations helping out and learning the art of modelling and using tools. The model is in itself, very basic, but it leaves a lot which may be added onto it etc.

If you are looking for a plan to keep the younger generation interested – look for a project along the lines of something which can move pretty fast and if it is for girls it has to be capable of putting a Sindy doll in, or even a ‘fluffy bear’  in.  If its for the lads, maybe Action man could go in and it has to be even faster. 
This seems to keep the younger generation interested.

Have a look at some of Glynn Guest’s plans – he has a couple which are, shall we say, very inviting.
