Loyal class rigging
« on: February 16, 2010, 07:25:53 pm »

Hello folks, can anyone point me in the direction of details or photos for the mast rigging on a loyal class from Model Slipway? have checked out a number of buids, reviews etc. but haven't been able to find any pics or details clear enough to show what ropes / rigging goes where.
           Regards, Tony.  :-))

Hello guys and thanks for your responses, yes I have seen these, and there were also 3 good photos that came with the kit, but I was a little confused due to the many variatons I've seen. I also want to add a flag but was not sure how it should be rigged, this is my first model and was hoping to find some pics or a layout that more clearly showed both top and bottom fixings of a complete rigging format - does this make sense? - not easy to photograph I would imagine.
A good time to exercise some poetic licence now me thinks -  and maybe even stick the flag on a pole!
Anyway you're right Geoff, it is a good build review of Ivor's - and have taken a lot of inspiration and guidance from it, In fact it was he brought my attention to the mast stays that aren't shown, however it's a cracking kit with a really good instruction and drawing package, am well pleased with it, Just hope I can obtain a finish that will do it justice.

I wanted to fly a flag on my Loyal so I added a jackstaff. As you say, poetic licence.

lets see if these photos shed a little light on the subject.

on the inside of the wall around the bridge roof, there are two cleats to be glued in place, one place were the ropes could be tyed off.

on the lower part of the mast there is also some plastic to be glued in place, between there and the top of the mast there plenty of room.

Thanks Colin, I see how you've done yours, just 2 lines from the cross tree to the rope cleats and one for the flag to the halyard boom yes? (I'm not that clever - have been reading the parts list! LOL)
Like the way you've put the indicator markings on the pics, wish I knew a little more about computing as well!! Have thought about trying to post some photos of my build but having seen the standards on here I think I'll leave it for a while.
Thanks for your pm ----- by the way , I think the marina you mentioned would be "Pillings Lock".

P.S. Colin, where did get the figures from and did you paint them yourself? they look to scale - 1/24?
            Cheers, Tony.

the figures are from deansmarine, the Capitan can be found at the following link, the rest are in there as well..

http://www.deansmarine.co.uk/shop/product_info.php/cPath/5_15/products_id/237

yes i did paint them my self, and yes they are at a scale of 1/24th

the figures are partly made from resin and the remaining parts are from white metal (alloy) just like the fittings in your kit..
