The lack of communication from Speedline is main thing putting me off having 1/12 Severn, shame really, Dave :((

Russ,
That looks very neat.
Sadly, Adrian tells me that he has no more bolt heads in stock. If anyone knows of another source of these, I would be grateful. No hurry at present.
Chris

You could try the TugKenny way. Here's my attempt by using hex rod cut into thousands of 3mm bits.     :}

Anger leads to the Dark Side Russ. You can't win 6705, trust your feelings, let go your conscious self and use The Force. The Force is what gives a boater his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the boat club together...

A couple of pictures of todays testing down the lake, using 18volts to power her, 3/4 throttle was good but full power and she lifted out of the water to much...

Russ,
Now that does look good!

I am going to spray mine with an airbrush lent to me by a friend. How much paint did you use to cover the hull and the superstructure? I need to order the paint, but have no idea how much I might need.

Hi Chris

I tend to use around 6 aerosol cans on the hull, 2 primer and 4 top coat, for the wheelhouse i use 2 cans of primer and three cans of top coat, then to finish i use two cans of laquer overall..

Hi Russ,
That's really helpful. Looking at how good your finish is, I'm wondering if it's worth the effort of an airbrush. Did you use gloss or satin lacquer?

Thanks Chris, problem with airbrushing is that the paint will be so thin you will end up putting so many coats on, i use satin laquer below the waterline and gloss laquer above..

Thanks

I did my Model Slipway 1/16 Trent with an airbrush and it was bit of a nightmare %%, much, much easier with the aerosols. Use the Halfords ones, they're acrylic water based sprays. He's used Peugeot Seville Orange, though some use VW Brilliant Orange (see 6705russell's Tyne Class Lifeboat thread, not sure what listed under) Ford Galaxy Blue for the hull, not sure which red but he'll let you know. I've used Ford Polar Grey for the rear railings on my lifeboats, satin black for rest of railings, capstans etc, Toyota Silver for window frames. Make sure you use white primer for the superstructure and all orange parts or it will look too dark after orange topcoat, I've learnt that one the hard way! %) Make sure too that you don't use any cellulose based sprays with the acrylic as they can react. Any detail work I just pick out using Humbrol enamel paints. Hope this been of some help to you, good luck, let us see some pics of your build, Dave :-)) :-)) :-))

Russ,
That's impressive!
I am daunted just at the thought of assembling all the pieces to make the mast, never mind making it work! Now you have to let us know how you did that....pictures of the mechanism please.

Well it has been a long time since any work was carried out on the Tamar but back in the swing of things now so a couple of update pictures, some work done to the wheelhouse, stanchions fitted, bow pulpit made, Delta anchors made up and fitted.

Looking Good Russ ! Does that mean you are not going to sell her to me then? It would have been nice to have had a reply to my original request, even if it had been no?
