mounting radio gear.

i think this has been raised before (possibly even by me :embarrassed:) but i cant find the thread.  are there likely to be any radio interference problems caused by mounting my radio gear directly above the prop shafts. the motor will be about 4" forward of it.    craig

There has been many threads in the past on this subject. I usually place all the electrics here on a raised board above the shafts.

As far as interference goes, I find if you earth the prop shafts together and also to the motor cases, then it's usually all right.  I believe 27Mhz is a bit touchy, but I have no experience of this frequency. Also , it's a good idea to fit suppression capacitors across the motor.

Have a nice sail

hi there

I have often mounted all my radio gear over the top of propshafts and I find that as long as the motors are properly suppressed, you should have no problems with interference.   Have look at the link on the type 42 build, you will see on there I have mounted the speed controller and RX receiver over the top of the propshafts.  There is no interference whatsoever, and, it's an 'old' 40 mghz Sanwa set - the most temperamental that was ever made by Sanwa.   Hope this helps.http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=15073.0
