Threaded rod....?

Good moaning boys n' girls...are we moaning well this moaning?

Anyone give me an idea as to where I can get a 1 metre length of 4mm threaded rod from? It needs to be threaded it's whole length, as in the attached pic.

Try B&Q, I know they do 6mm, they may have 4mm.

I need to put retaining nuts at either end Ian, plus I need a retaining nut in the middle to position the centre bulkhead correctly.

Because if you look at the picture there are nuts at several positions along its length.

Look up your local engineering/ ironmongery suppliers in yellow pages etc, they will have 4mm rod in 1mtr lengths in stock and a lot cheaper then b&q etc.

Understand the principle, seems a better case for drilled and tapped spacer rods.

But when you don't have workshop facilities Ian, a length of threaded rod and half a dozen nuts is a much better(and cheaper)alternative....

Over here on the other side of the Pond it's called all-thread.  Local hardware stores sell it in 3 ft. lengths, in several diameters, usually all are National Coarse (NC) thread.  I used 1/4" 20 threads/inch as a center tie rod in some toy soldiers made of clay pots.  It worked very well.
