Krabbenkutter color schemes
« on: January 11, 2007, 02:32:00 am »

Hi all,

Does anyone have a link to photo's of real krabenkutters, I would love to build my graupner kit to an actual ship other than the provided color scheme.

Thanks

Here are some pictures of my Graupner Ton 96, I painted it in my own colours, a very light shade of turquoise. The weathering doesn't show up too well on these pictures but it might give you some ideas, just go for it.

BTW if anyone knows of any sailing waters for our club very near to Crewe as we have just lost ours due to Health & Safety, being in the grounds of a college, they just got rid of us after many years of sailing there.

Kris, which kit is it?
It depends on the type of vessel as they had been painted all in different colours which is depending on the area where they had been.

Kris, Graupner does 3 or 4 Kist with a Krabbenkutter. Is ist the "Elke" or the "Tön"?

Hi.........

I built mine with USA registry out of deference to a good friend of mine who recently passed fighting cancer.

I did it tan and dark brown with matte grey below the waterline.

Hi Kris- had been a bit through the Internet, The TÖN is a typical Krabbenkutter, which will be used just in the Northsea. Though if you go GOOGLE and you type in "Krabbenkutter Nordsee" you will find lots of photographs which may give you a clue about used colour schemes. I have had a try- looks really fine (but was too much to list).
Hope this was out of any help,
