Oil Water Separation Tank

Hi can someone tell me if you are running two engines, side by side do I need two oil separator Oil Separation tanks or can they be piped into one?

One is enough, but make it twice as big  ok2

Jonathan....all things being equal.....if you are putting steam @ approx 150 degrees C into the displacement lubricator & hence into your engine....the exhaust steam + residual traces of oil will be @ approx 85 degrees C

The swirling action created within the inlet tubing to the seperator + the temperature reduction causes the oil mist to recondense as liquid & allows approx 80% the steam to be vented to atmosphere

A ratio of [10:1] eg., ......1000 ml boiler capacity to 100 ml seperator capacity...could be considered OK.......

So it is the total units of steam used & consumed...irrespective of the number of engines used...... O0 .....Derek

Hi Jonathan,

I've just built and fitted an oil separation cylinder/feed heater for my flash steamer "Vital Byte", which is powered by a Stuart D10 as you may remember.

I've placed a description of the device under the Flash Steam Control thread accompanied with a couple of photos.
