Can I use my HiTec Optic 6 tx (40mhz) with a Zebra ZR-106F 5 channel 40mhz receiver?

Assuming they are both FM or both AM the combination should work. I regularly use AM Futaba and Hitec combinations.

Be aware of a possible crystal missmatch and I don't mean only using the same pair of one type.

As long as they are the same type eg, 40mhz ,FM and on the same make of xtals you should be ok
Also check weather they are single or dual conversion , you must use the correct xtals ,
if you are unsure check it in the workshop first and then do a range check just for piece of mind .

In my experience when mixing and matching tx's and rx's, each unit has to be using it's own makers specified, (or compatable), crystal.

For instance the Zebra receiver may need a Zebra crystal installed to match the frequency of the Hitec Transmitter with a Hitec crystal installed.

Of course the crystals must be matching frequencies even though the are made by different manufacturers.

I think this crystal buisness may have stemed from the early set-up's , where they were fussy and using crystals from different manufacturers was frowned upon in the aricraft fraternaty where any faliure could be possibly fatal.
Nowadys i think its safe to mix and match as long as you test first , the last thing we want is a springer on the loose  %% .

Just for your information guys, a 40mhz Zebra 5ch rx works perfectly well with a 40mhz HiTec Optic 6 tx.

Thanks,

Should start a pick and mix crystal table, another possibility was that the original radio manufacturers like Fubar didn't want to risk loosing revenue by customers buying cheaper sets. We used to go through the same thing with mix and match servos for the centre point and either side limits --- Fubar again.

When I had both Hitec and Futaba 40mhz sets, there was definitely an incompatibility. Checking with a frequency scanner, some combinations of crystals would span more then one frequency slot. I first noticed the problem whilst sailing, then did a comprehensive check using the scanner.
Sorry - I no longer have the table I created.
