Wanted - Gauges for Classic Runabout
« on: June 29, 2010, 07:18:56 pm »

Some time ago I found a web site that sold miniature gauges for model boat builders, unfortunately, I have not been able to find that site since. The issue now is I have need of miniature boat gauges.  {:-{
I recently acquired a RC Classic Runabout, I am sure many of you are familiar with. I am working on several aspects of the boat to upgrade it. One thing in particular is to replace the decals on the dash that detract from the overall appeal of this boat.

I have attached a photo of the boat's dashboard as it appears today with the factory provided gauge decals. It is my hope to locate a source for miniature gauges: Speedo, tachometer etc. as close to scale as possible.

I am hoping one of the forum members will be able to direct me to a good source for these things.  I am in the US so the supplier would have to send the items to me via the mail.

I can fabricate some if it comes to that, but the gauges I saw looked like they'd be just right.
Thank you in advance for any direction for these gauges.

I recently acquired a RC Classic Runabout,  many of you are familiar with this particular boat. I am working on several aspects of the boat to upgrade it. One thing in particular is to replace the decals simulating gauges on the dash, that to me detract from the overall appeal of this boat.

Have a look at some of the scale aircraft Gauges...  O0

Williams used to manufacture them and so did Proctor.. Both US manufacturers..  ;)

Try the model aircraft sites. At a flying display at the weekend I saw a vendor who had them in various scales, some with brass bezels. Can't remember the vendor - and anyway it was in the UK

According to a friend who models professionally, "Draw them up in photoshop and scale down." You can also look for color photographs in classic boating magazines.
