Yes, its ver clever it sails normally then splits in the middle and sinks and then comes up again!

Why does that appeal to me    ;)

I like the bit where she comes back up as if nothing had happened.   {-)

WHY ?

Because the guy is clever enough to build it, great show stopper and reaction when it sinks!

One of our members used to have a scratch built corvette that did a similar routine.
During displays, my destroyer would pop smoke to get the crowds attention, then sail past his
corvette and ignite a small firecracker. At that point his boat would sink.
As it sunk the bilge pump would kick on, and begin spinning the boat slowly and as the stern rose into
the air, he would apply dead slow to propeller all while doing a little death spin.
Two ships would then sail in close, or along and stand by while closed the scuttle valve and pumped the
ship dry... They would then escor the corvette back to shore.

Always a crowd pleaser.

On my first trip to the Tualatin, Oregon regatta a few years ago there was a large (maybe 8 ft) model of Titanic.  She steamed around looking regal for a while, then started to sink.  My first thought was, "Is it supposed to do that?"  Alas, I was told the builder was not astute and the hull had opened up along a seam or something.  The owner jumped in and saved it before it did the death dive.
