Model Aziz railings
« on: January 24, 2007, 08:16:40 pm »

Hi everyone

I have been working on the railings on my boat. The frames were completely built on the bench and soldered together, following the floor plan.

I have offered them to the boat in position and by heating the stanchions, have sunk the legs into the deck with the heat.

Now that the plastic has hardened, I found they are quite snug in their slots. See pictures.

My question is this.

What can I secure them with, to make sure they don't work loose.  If I use a dollop of glue, it will collect around the base of the pillars and look a bit lumpy.  I cannot pull them back out without undue force and ruining them. These took me two days to put together and I cant wait to paint them to hide my rough soldering !

As I'm not sure about picture sizes, I have uploaded them one at a time.

Cheers...Ken

Hi PMK

Sorry I haven't put up the pictures of the Oscilloscope readings yet   (of my funny motors !!).  I'll get her out of dry dock in the weekend and run them again.

Cold out in the workshop innit ...................

Ministeve,   I am encouraged by your comments. The frame itself was quite rigid on the bench, so it would take a bit of force to move now they are in position.  I can see why there are notices at boat shows of  " please do not touch "  on peoples models   :)

Stavros,  Underneath, you can just see the prongs coming through the plastic. I shall indeed put a little blob there, just to be  "belt and braces"  Thanks for that  :)

Or run some thin superglue around the underside applied with a cocktail stick.

Tug-Kenny, looks good to me. What about all those organised drawers in your workshop though!!Whey, I have got about half that number and I have been told I am obsessively organised!

Hi Roger

Those drawers contain my spares from my electronics trade. Here is a normal day in the workshop. Keyboards from Schools, all waiting for repair.

When they are cleared, ... out comes the boat and glue.    Till the next batch come in.   ;D
