On a slightly different tack.... have been looking for a second receiver for my Spektrum tx......

Since they were coming in about £30.... have instead gone for a complete Tx/Rx set radioLink 2.4Ghz, http://www.giantcod.co.uk/gianitcod-24ghz-4channel-mode2-transmitter-p-403779.html  only £30 including post... cheap and chearful 4 channel, but gets reasonable reviews!

2.4 is definably the way to go clearly as most will say buy the best you can afford, I'm using a planet 5 ( 47 quid from Howe's models) i would like to upgrade to a futaba at some point as my next few builds will require a better TX with some programability but i will worry about that when the time comes.

I was reading the manual for Giant Cod's more expensive set, and it said the programming was very similar to Futaba's EX4 sets. It appears to have a variety of mixes , EPA, etc. This manual was written by a user, not the manufacturer, although that is there too. £53 and uses the same Rx as the cheap set.
