Spitfire floatplane boat
« on: September 15, 2010, 11:37:23 pm »

Anyone else spotted this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1-20-Scale-R-C-Electric-RTR-Hydroplane-Boat-Blue-Style-/330461876982?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item4cf11012f6

or actually seen one?

Despite the gaudy paint scheme, it seems to be a reasonable model of a Spitfire MkV or MkIX floatplane.

certainly different , although i cant see much point in it as it doesnt fly ! i would imagine it may also make a rather unstable model on a windy lake ?

Full size one did exist in prototype form.

The Supermarine S6B Schneider Trophy Winner designed by RJ Mitchell is purported to be the forerunner of the Spitfire.
It was a float plane.

It was actually put into production and the RAF flew it in Malaya due to lack of runways. :-))

One of the Spitfire float planes on Bluewater lake today re painted and altered slightly it ran for about 8 minutes before the battery went flat it looks a trifle heavy in the water though. %% %%

A plane that doesn't plane? seems to need a severe dose of brushless and Lipo even to stay on the water.
