Hello all I just wondered .. I was 11 when I came to Australia.. I am now 59.. I lived in Aberdeen Scotland and we had a park called the Duthie Park.. There was a big pond with a shed at the end of it and the old fellahs would take out their Beautiful Home Made Yachts and with a Pole for pushing and guiding set these Beautiful Boats out onto the Pond and it was a Glorious sight to watch.. I wonder how many of those beautiful boats are still in existence... Does anyone from Aberdeen remember the Duthie Park or similar..

I just moved from Elgin, Scotland and can confirm that Duthie Park is still there. I don't think there's any boating going on now though.

- or possibly is still going http://www.sfmbc.net/page63.html

The pond is that large rectangle in the bottom right-hand corner, just across the road from the River Dee. It used to be a good, clean, water to sail on.

Good one dbninja!
 I was having a chat with someone at work, about the good old days, when we joined the company 10 years ago.
He said, 'Eventually these will be the good old days.....'
I said, "........ that's a real depressing!"  {:-{

I cannot see any obvious water in the photo, the only rectangle I can see looks like grass! I can see a BMX track in the upper left though, that looks like fun!

When I was last in Aberdeen I went along to Duthie Park on a Sunday morning to see if any members of the local club were sailing. Unfortunately none of them were, but I did notice there was a thick layer of leaves/weed on the bottom so that would explain, Nordsee, why it doesn't look like water. It's a good sized pond and I wish there was something similar near where I live.

If you click on the street view the pond looks rather empty.
