Any ideas what this is? or better still any pictures?
« on: September 22, 2010, 04:43:27 pm »

Hi, I have just received this model in a bad state as you can see from the pictures. Does anyone have any ideas what the ship is, who it might of been made by or access to any pictures or drawings. Thank you for your help Tom

This is definitely the old Caldercraft "Vulcano". This was a torpedo training ship built (by Thornycroft) for the Portuguese Navy in 1905. The model is 1/32 scale. A very interesting and unusual model, though yours looks to be missing a lot of the fittings.

Here's a link to a PDF on Caldercraft's site with a good photo of the complete model: http://www.aeromarine-uk.com/Brochures/JoTiKa_Scale.pdf . Not sure if it is still in production or not, but Caldercraft/Jotika may be able to help you with replacements for the missing fittings + bits!

Edward you are a star thank you very much. Thankfully I have a big box with all the fittings some need repairs but mostly all there intact, now i can get on and restore the boat. Thank you again Tom
