Balne Moor Tug Tow / Ship Handling
« on: September 26, 2010, 08:41:02 pm »

Hi Guy;s  October 10th This is not a compertition, It's a towing day for all interested in towing or who would like to get into towing, There will be people here to advise and give advice on tug towing. There will be tugs to lone if you have not got a tug to tow with, also there will be  other guy's to tow with if you are coming alone, we will be trying to get 6 or 7 ships & barges on the water at one go. So if you feel this is for you PLEASE come along and ENJOY your self I know I will. This is Balne Moors last tow of 2010.
Regards

John

Well good news atleast, I should be free to come along with my tug aslong as the weather is nice and theres a willing volunteer to shove the thing in the water - I hate to be hinderance but I simply cant do it :( Going in on the 13th for my long awaited hip replacement. I may also bring my barge if i finish it in time.

yes Poll aka John said there would be help    :-))

I normally rely on a friend for assistance with my models but hes busy sundays. I hate having to rely on someone to help me with a hobby, it makes it almost not a hobby if you catch my drift.  {:-{

Anyway, yes i'll try to get there, i'll be the one in the red audi, music blearing and hobbling out of the thing towards the pond..   :embarrassed:

Good question, I was going to ask the same thing. How great minds think alike eh?

Another question - assuming i complete my towing barge, am i welcome to bring that for its first floatation test?  as a bonus for you lot, you can all laugh at me when it sinks..

Hi Steve......talk about turning up early......

The Jocksters will probably leave about 5am that'll give us 5 hours to plunder ,pilage and stop for something to eat on our way across the border.

Directions to Balne Moor.
Turn off the M62 at Junction 34 onto the A19.
Head South on the A19 - signposted Doncaster.
Pass through Whitley village (30 MPH)
As you leave the village speed limit increases to 40 MPH.
After approx 500 yards - Crossroads - turn Left - signposted Balne.
This is Balne Moor Road.
Straight on for 1.5 miles, you will see a railway bridge over the road.
Indicate to turn right, entrance is approx 150 yards on right.
BALNE MOOR FISHERY
After you pass through the gate keep straight forward, the lake is in front of
you.
Parking is on the left.

The Postcode for Sat Nav'ers is DN14 0EL - but beware this postcode covers a
large area of countryside.

Hope this helps
