Hi Dave, I think we all know the problem, but there is another way. The freelance method. one hull, one drive train, one tx/rx, and change the superstructure, our better halfs like to change their make up and put on a different face It worked for me, might be worth trying ,.,.,Pat

No - but the cheques I get for building them seem to disappear indecently quickly. I wonder where she banks them................too scared to ask her, I suppose.
Spent £45 in Halfords today, mainly on plastic primer. It had better work or someone is in trouble............

I always stress the massive savings I've made without stating the actual cost. Seem to get away with it most of the time....

Oh, do be serious Bluebird...it would be more than my life was worth if she found out..and it cannot be compared to how much she spends on nails and hair per month, don't ask me how I know that but the bruises are healing slowly.

If I acquire something new, of worth, the worth is never quite as much as it actually was. Not lying you understand, more embellishing the truth for the family harmony.

I have a don't ask, Don't tell policy. I don't ask her how much she spends on her things and I sure don't tell her how much I spend on mine. It all seems to work itself out. Just lucky I guess.

My wife knows exactly what I spend on whatever I decide to buy, she does the accounts!  She says I have earned it so I can spend what I want and as far as I am concerned she can spend what she wants as well.  Why shouldn't she, she makes me happy.

Neither of us go daft without talking about something first but also neither of us feel like we have to ask permission.

I couldn't imagine it any other way.

Hi All

I got wise a few years ago and suggested for her to find a hobby of her own. Now we have an understanding I don't ask, she doesn't ask.

Split-up since two years nobody sets up these questions to me (what took you so long in the cellar, what have you spend that money for, where do we have to put that large boat, why do you make another boat...etc.).

But that "solution" is also not cheap....  :P, though you`d better try to keep some kind of peace. The less she knows, the better it is....

She knows how much the big things cost. That is easy. ;D

But it is all the little things that really add up, and why mention the little thiings? ::)

I do not tell her how much my puffer has cost so far, but she knows. After 33 years of marriage I would be surprised if she did not know. If she did ever ask, whats the point in telling a lie if she finds out the truth, I would have a viking funeral on my  hands.

Nomad, this is like you come home with flowers and she asks you: "Why do you have a bad conscience?"  :D

Never had a problem with my partner spending wise, she is very understanding and knows in the long run i will be happy.
on the other side of the fence she gets bought from me what she likes when she likes, money permitting.

The DSM and I have been married for 36 years, so we don't have many secrets from each other (I hope!). Now I'm retired, anything that keeps me out from under her feet gets her approval. She looks after the bank accounts and providing there is enough left for regular holidays, she's happy.

We have a simple arrangement over here, we both get what we want and then tell each other why and what for, all out in the open as we are adults and we do communicate....

Hi All,

I use a sort of money laundering system. My wife never complains about what I spend, but I don't want to push it.

So over the last few years, I have had 'GREAT SUCCESS' with the various model boat raffles I have entered. I have also been given quite a lot of half completed models by friends and club mates, and if I sell a model, then I always make a big profit.  ;)

It works for us.

My wife's hobby is taking me away on expensive holidays which she pays for. I  never complain about that, so I suppose it evens out.  ;D

Ah the age old problem of spousal expenditure.
I was caught out a few years back with a mountain bike I'd bought and was using infrequently and keeping round at my mothers. It was great until her indoors found the receipt in my bedside drawer. It was a then not inconsiderable sum of £850. The air was blue on my return from the office.  I just went straight out the next day and bought her the ladies model of same bike. She was happy but then only rode it about three times.
Cant wait till Graham finishes building my Al Khubar in June - I'm going down the raffle prize route to explain that one !!!!

 :-\

Ha, She tells Me how much I spend.

Problem is that by the time she tells me it is too late..

At least the boat spending is a drop in the Ocean compared to a Season with the Motorcyle, now there is an expesnive past time. ;)
