Water ingress
« on: October 17, 2010, 01:28:43 pm »

Hello all, I've had water ingress and then power completely died. The question is the boat ran for a couple or seconds when I emptied the water out but now there is no LED on the receiver and the viper 10 ESC just has a solid red LED lit constantly.

Remove esc and receiver from boat and place somewhere warm for a couple of days, might work again.

ESC should be ok its supposed to be waterproof
Did the motor get soaked?
If so it will need drying as well.
Leave all hatches?superstructure off and keepin a warm place
Might take up to a week depending on the temperature.
This will give the servo a chance to dry out also.

Good Luck

I sunk my fishing trawler (well a gust of wind did) earlier this year, it spent a good hour on the bottom. When got it out and home I stripped all the electrics out, rinsed them off in clean water, nothing to loose by then and wanted to get rid of any nasties from the lakewater. Able to split the receiver casing (was using one from DX6i) and put everything in the airing cupboard for couple of days. All worked fine when reassembled, receiver, mtroniks controller, servo, decaperm motor, battery, the lot. Think I was lucky, only casualty was one deck figure that suffered burial at sea! I was just fortunate that it capsized only couple of feet from lakeside, couldn't see it though as about five foot deep and murky, got it out with adapted fishing pole with hook on end that one of our sailors keeps in his car! All good fun...Dave.  :embarrassed:
