HI
The Action P100 sound module would seem to be a good buy from reports on this forum.

Hi again.
Also if you only want a diesel engine sound the multi cylinder unit by Hunter system is also very effective and less than half the price.

If you read the instructions on the Action one, the engine sound stops when another sound activates, can any one confirm this.

On the P100, if you play an auxiliary sound, it overrides the engine sound - once the sound is finished, the engine sound returns. This is because the unit only has a single sound generation channel.

However in most cases this will not be a problem - you will want to hear the noise.

The complexity of adding true multiple sound support would invariably add cost to the unit and make the setup and management of the unit more complex. Because it would mean a move to surface mount technology, it also means that the unit becomes a disposable item if it goes wrong or gets damaged. The P100 can be repaired if it goes wrong.  It all comes down to what you want from the sound unit.

i would and have gone for the action unit sounds great, repairable and reprogrammable, so with some thought could be moved from model to model. Oh and cheaper.

Update ,
Finaly bought the Graupner soundswitch with amp, fitted on removable board and used a paper speaker, better than mylar.
The unit came with all the sounds anyone will need and software to get your own, you need a computer to input the sounds but the sound is "AWSOME".
(kids love the farting sound)
