Personally I think he should be locked up and th4 boat permanently sunk.
How ridiculous....... the rule of the sea is to save life...... and that means keeping a good lookout for vessels in distress....... if people can get away with this, they run the risk of making ships divert to help, and they will be less than happy to find no distress situation, and that will eventually stop people doing the decent thing.......

I'd run it down myself if that helps.....and leave him clinging to whatever is left as retribution. I'm sure the MCA wouldn't allow it (tho' some recent experiences might throw that into doubt!). Has to be one of our humorless American cousins.

In my humble opinion, the sea is far to serious and dangerous a place to take so called "Art" onto it in this manner.. >>:-( >>:-( >>:-(

That kind of stupidity could cause a lot of trouble and cost the rescue services a lot of wasted call-out money....

Words fail me, I can't believe anyone would be so stupid to create such a thing. Hope they're billed for the false alarms it'll cause!! Wonder what the RNLI think of it?!?  >:-o

Come on guys & Girls , to me this is a lynching party before all the facts are known , if it is used in a serious manner ok Hang him , however looking at it I would say it is more of a party piece and would not actually go out into serious waters. or any water more than a couple of hundred yards from the shore.  %%

As this seems to suggest
To create the piece a 6.5 meter yacht was cut in half and a new keel was added to allow the boat to remain upright in the sinking position. since its construction Berthier has taken the boat out on numerous trips inside harbors like canary wharf in London and in Normandy, France

The guy who built it is an artist.. seems to have done the trick , every body is talking about it and the most famous art always seems to be the most controversial..

I know if I was out on my fishing boat and saw it the first thing I would do is radio the coastguard and then make my way over as fast as possible, I wouldn't be happy to find out it was a joke and I'm pretty sure the lifeboat boys wouldn't either.

We had a visitor who brought one over from the mainland; we were both  amused and impressed by the engineering.   %% %%

Guess we're splitting into two camps here..... those who have been/are seriously connected with the sea and realise the implications....... and land lubbers interested in (model)boats.

How about an 'artistic' pile up at the side of the motorway for those passing to enjoy, or a tube station 'artistically' decked out to appear as after a suicide bomber has made a call...... bound to encourage use of public transport............ in my opinion, some things just aren't art
