Another battery question if I may?
« on: November 05, 2010, 07:33:05 pm »

I bought quite a few packs of AA 2200mah batteries back from Spain when we returned as they were on special offer. Now, can I make them up into power packs like sub C race packs, or is there something with AA cells that won't allow me to? I have no idea what the discharge rate is as it's not printed on the packs, just the Mah of 2200.
Thanks
Nige

Hi Nige,

No problem, I've soldered quite a few AA into receiver and transmitterpacks, works like a charm.

Just make sure you have a large soldering iron with suficient 'oomph', so the soldering can be done quick witout overheating the cells.
Don't 'bake them...

Nowadays, all those packs are replaced by Lipo's, lighter and more capacity.

Regards, Jan.

Hi Jan,
Thanks for that, I know they can be used in Tx's but I was wondering about using them in the models themselves as race packs? I have lipo's but some of the motors I intend powering are in between the ratings, ie. 7.4v isn't enough, but the next one up at 11.1v is too much. It's a shame they don't make lipos with smaller gaps between the power ratings. It's just that I have 10 or a dozen of these packs x 4 cells, and wanted to make use of them if possible  :-))
