r/c problems
« on: November 22, 2010, 10:08:21 pm »

Hi everyone, I have an r/c problem, I have a futuba transmitter 75mhz with a # 74 crystal, and a hi-tech receiver with a # 74 crystal and a  traxxas xl1 controller.  When I hook this up I cannot the motor or the servo to an idle position.  I tried to adjust the transmitter and the controller,  strangely enough I have a friend who has a futuba trnasmitter with a # 66 crystal  so I switched the crystal on my hi-tech receiver and the system works fine.  I tried my transmitter on another boat with the a # 74 crystal and it works ok but when I hook it up on this boat I have this problem.  Any suggestions??? I thought I could use the same crystal # for both boats as long as I operate only one at a time.  I don't want to buy another transmitter if I can help it.
I'm fairly new at this, so if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

sorry we dont use 75 mhz here  (uk ) but do you have a matched pair of crystals , ie one marked t or tx and the other marked r or rx ? ive also experienced problems if the crystals are from a different brand than the radio ?

Thanks, Triumohjon, I will check on that, if that indeed is the problem , I'll buy match sets from now on.
