Quack..Quack..ohh its my cute deck..and need some help...
« on: November 24, 2010, 08:17:21 am »

Friends, i was inspired too much, by seeing one of my friends craft, a yellow nice duck with paddlers...of Timo, and i lost my sleep..so i decided to make one and tried to get one for me.after andering many oy shops, result as desperating..so i started from expanded polystene, and its taking shape now..i have a best idea about Ducks, as many we have in our farms. so i know it swims with a swinging action fore and aft..then my intention was to fix a prop at back, and a pump at bow..but i hope it will make this duck a boat like running instead of silent one..so can anyone suggest me to choose a good type of propultion to my deck for a silent operation...?

Hi Rathi

I think you are doing OK by yourself. Your imagination and design abilities far outreach some of ours. Well done.

Here is a picture of a duck that I was going to convert but never got around to it. The idea was to cut an opening in the top of the wings for access to the works inside, but that's as far as I got.       :}

I was going to keep it's look and fit a small prop underneath. The steering could be done with the duck's web feet facing backwards before the prop.   :-)

Hi Rathi

I did a little drawing on the computer for you.  (that was an amusing half hour finding out I cannot draw)

Here's a picture to give you an idea. The feet are flat together and vertical like a rudder and are pivoted in front of the propeller.

Have fun

looks like a standard shooting decoy , you should be able to get them from country sports shops and shooting suppliers

Hi Regiment.  I got mine from the Garden centre. I also have a swan which is bigger and could be a bit of fun if I get the neck to turn with the rudder.   ;)

i always wanted a swan to turn into a bait boat. At my lake bait boats are banned & i thought a swan would make a great stealth bait boat.  {-)

Rathikrishna, your postings on this forum are like a breath of fresh air, thank you. :-))

Few of us exhibit even a fraction of your excitement, and your determination to make something-that-works should be an inspiration to all, especially the younger, budding modellers.

Keep up your wonderful work,

Geoff

Hi Guys,
Like the idea of a swan, we have a great problem with pesky swans at Killingworth Lake, would like to build a decoy swan and install a SWAN DISTRESS call inside it, that might keep the 50 odd swans we have away from the sailing area - ANY IDEAS ?

How about a submarine like Jules Verne Nautilus witrh a pointy bit on the front to gently nudge them out the way.
Before anybody complains Iwas only joking - I'd get thrown out the RSPB for suggesting that.
