Hello from snowy (but thawing a little) Kidderminster
« on: December 10, 2010, 11:22:40 am »

Hi there.  Newbie in the room !!!

Just thought I would drop in and say hello, as I have just had my membership apporved by "the powers that be".

I am a very (VERY) amatuer boat builder who has done nowt for a few years, and would like to get into it again. I have just bought a 2nd hand Perkasa off the dreaded ebay, which I hope to complete over the winter & get running for the spring of next year. It is fully built apart from running gear & radio, so I dont have a lot to do, apart from tidying her up a bit (read a lot).

So hopefully, you lot will give me some help & inspiration to get it completed.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

Dave

Welcome, Dave. As I always tell new members, there's lots of info available here and many very talented builders who are only too willing to help newcomers to the hobby, all you need do is ask. Have a look through the postings on different boards, and use the search facility too, if you are looking for something specific.

Yes. There is Stourbridge model boat club, which meets at either Heath Pool at Mary Stevens Par,k Stourbridge, or Baggeridge Country park lake. I must admit, I have yet to make contact, but hope they are more welcoming than the club I read about earlier yesterday on this site...LOL

Best wishes,

if you have no joy with your local club in Kiddy, feel free to contact me at our club. We sail over at Chasewater pool. Ok its a bit further than you really need, but we would make you more than welcome.

incidentally, Im doing a renovation rebuild on a 49" perkasa, its in the warship section, feel free to have a look and ask any questions there.
there are a few perkasa specialists on this forum and will glady give you all the assistance you need regarding specs and setup info.
