Very pretty.

Didn't see the navigation lights on the bridge.  (the red on the port side and the green on the starboard)       ;)

Well done again and don't change into a Boy.  We like you just the way you are.   :-))

Rathi, have you painted the Puffer black or is that an illusion because of the darkness ?   Black would be the most likely colour with dull red below the waterline.  Yes Kenny, no navigation lights .  They should/could be on the wheelhouse Rathi, on roof or just under the windows.  Nice work.

Sir, its actual colour is bus green at top, and signal red at bottom.yes i know, so i am building some more big puffer and will be in black and post office red combi...puffers are my dream crafts...i always think while i see some modern crafts over water..screams over water and runs impatiently...but we can still imagine the matured nature of a puffer as it gently slips over water...all environment friendly...cool craft...and always make me dreaming one....its ....ahh..no words to explain...about a puffer.....its heavenly....

Rathi, I live in the land of the Clyde puffer, Scotland. I was born and brought-up on the west coast where the puffers plied their trade, I also lived in Troon where I saw many of the steam puffers scrapped in a ship-breaker`s yard.  I wish I had taken photographs of them at the time. There are a couple of them preserved at a museum ship in the town of Inveraray on the west coast. One of these , VIC32, is now trading as a passenger tour boat with accomodation in the converted cargo hold. I have attached a photograph of it . As you see they were very dull in appearance, the red below the waterline is dull red, like red oxide undercoat. Hulls were mostly black. I like to think that if ever one was to be exported to India that the new owners would brighten it up a lot and paint it as you have done yours. It is a great effort, please dont think I am being too critical, I love all your work from such basic materials.  Keep it up. Also in photographs is my Spinger version of a puffer, just for fun !  Where the last puffers are www.inveraraypier.com    note there is a puffer forum too.

Rathi

Have a look at the VIC32 website as well:

http://www.savethepuffer.co.uk/

If you have access to DVD's, there is one of a comedy film called "The Maggie". It is about a Clyde puffer and was made at Ealing Studios in 1954.

There are also some rare recordings in existance of the "Para Handy" television comedy series, based on the stories by Neil Munro.

You probably know all this already but - just in case you don't!

The definitive Puffer website  is under construction at the moment but  get the link through www.clydemaritime.co.uk/puffers_and_vics  This is a tour de force listing and giving history of ALL of them !  A brilliant effort.  :-))   I fear the subtlety of Para Handy humour might not travel too well .

See you Pugwash !  >:-o Ah`ll  jist hae tae watch hoo ma kilt hings...dinnae want `um tae see too much o` mah Scoattishness in this cauld weather, twid gie um the wrang impression aw the gither.  :embarrassed:  Aye if Dougie wass here he wid tell ye.   The author of Para Handy was writing for an educated and erudite readership so he did only introduce a slight West Highland lilt into fill-out the Captain`s character who almost certainly would be a native Gaelic speaker and therefore have perfect English, having had it drummed into him by a " coorse Domini " from the mainland, probably a Glesca man with a mission to bring "enlightenment " to those that spoke a language  that only the angels knew. {-)  Mind you it could have been worse, they might have sent an Englishman :P

Good evening Great Friends..i am too happy to know about the pufferas it born in Scottland.and a million thanks for the actual photograph of the heavenly craft...Sir, all my crafts are based on my imagination...i always do something differ from actual machine..most of the time not because of my false modesty or so..but here i lack good paints..here i don't have any good paint collection.only hope is automotive paints that they all sell in a bulk quantity...its much costlier..so i always insist on enamel paints, and most of the time in to 100 Ml..so dealers never stock any much colour with them, as they never get much profit from this simple sales...so i choose some paints to me and mixes as i need..i adds some talcum powder in paint to get a matty finish, and silver powder for metallic finish, and viceversa.so apologize me once...any way i will try to paint all crafts in actual colour from now..thanks for the valuable advice...and guidance..and thanks for the links.... Good night...

We think we know some of your problems Rathi and you do very well with limited facilities.  Your imagination and skills are admirable and the results very commedable. If you have time to look at that puffer and VIC site I mentioned in previous post via Clyde Maritime you will see the immense variety of shapes and styles of puffers and I noticed that a few of the black and white photographs show lighter colours on the hulls. I wonder what that colour was ?  Also noted that after the second world war a lot of the ex-Admiralty and Royal Navy VICs were sold to many countries even the far east.  Maybe your flight of fancy with the green hulled puffer is moored on a river near you !  No need to change anything unless one is trying to make a true scale model.  We all need good imagination, I can see the green puffer in my minds eye, just dont know if it is on the Ganges or the Irrawaddy.

Good morning..and thanks for the kind reply..Arrow, now i am crawling over the web pages about puffers..its actually now i am getting more idea of the heavenly craft...then how nice history is behind it...awesome...so i will finish one in exact detail and scale along with real paint scheme, as my leaves ends and at my base, so from there i can colect all needed paints and marking material for the great work. but prior to that i have to compleate my trwler, duck, hydro crane, great western rail engine, along with Tamar life boat spans in to 3.5 feet. so i will get enough time to spend on puffer.it will be in a scale of 4 feet..so now i have notived some good looking chubby models for it. i got some nice photographs from my friends from MBMH. so i have a good reFF; for it..so with great hope..and never forget to advice me that anything you feel right..so i can make my craft even better...Rachu

Sir..it was my first working model in the segment of Puffers.first one was Para Handy, i got that design from the book Encyclopedia of Model making by Christopher Payne, and second was Nelle Peck, also from this book. both were waterline models, in a diorama. this is the first time i am getting some actual criteria about the puffers. so now i am in my work home to build one big Puffer. it will be a 4 feet long and proportions. i am willing to name it as Popeye..and here some good photos of my craft...i will finish the big puffer as early i can..but no i am working on my fishing trawler and Tug..

Sir i placed the funnel, behind the cabin, because ,to get a clear view for my captain..(by my imagination..)  there may be a real reason to fix that funnel at front..so my next craft will be according to its tradition...
