I was researching lights for my tug 'Flying Duck' and found this useful picture:

Which shows the top light (of the three) being used as a nav light doubling up as one of the 'short' towing pair.
I also noticed the number of deck lights that I'll have to fit that I have not previously considered!!
Wiring Tip:Get an old transformer with some reasonable gauge winding wire (thick enough not to break in your hands).
get rid of the core (separate the core plates and remove them to free the core.
Compute the length required and unwrap double the amount and fold it in half.
Put one end in a vice and the other end in a drill - and spin the drill to wind it up into a braid.
Cut the end and separate - then de-enamel with a soldering iron and new solder, clean iron tip after.
This wire will then fit easily up and down masts, through 1.3mm holes etc and can be painted etc after.
To solder to leds, tin the wire as before about 4mm, cut off led legs leaving 5mm, then wrap tinned end around led leg with a small screwdriver and apply fresh solder for 0.5 sec - job done.
