« on: December 22, 2010, 03:42:15 am »

Hello all out there.
After being involved in the Whats your Favourite Aircraft Forum, I though I would start a Build on the USAF F117 from start to flying.
It appears like me that a lot of you have other modelling interests apart from our Boats and Yachts so I will do this for anyone interested out there.
I will include the costs to build as i go of each Component of what we will need to get her in the Air.
I will start with some pictures of the Kit in question to refresh your memories of what a F117 looks like (The Flying Cockroach)

Now for all you Mechanical Men out there here are the Specs of the Model and then I shall wait for any comments before continuing with this as Its up to you if you are interested and you can let me know via comments on here please.

Length : 1025mm
wing Span : 690mm
Wing Area : 27.97dm2
Flying Weight : 650gms
Eqyupped with one 64mm EDF.

Ok thats it  so , Cost of Kit is Aussie 39.99

Mr Wolf,  I know in real life these aircraft would be very hard to fly without the aid of computors - what are they like to control in model form
compared with a more traditional type of jet like the alfajet or f4?

Hiya Geoff, Well mate thats one of the reasons I chose this as I personally have never flown this one and I would just like to see what happens in the end
as far as performance etc goes and also to share with you some Pictures and anything else i can answer if possible. I know in real life it needs many computer assists to keep her stable and flying haha but will see as I think she wont as they say be a Floater haha and would be a real fast landing me thinks

Thanks Chris I just don't think it is for me - I could probably build it but flying if would be a whole new ball game.
