What have you painted the deck with to get the textured look?

 Hi Chris

I sprinkled fine sand on to wet paint then tipped deck upside down to remove excess, left it to dry then gave it 4 coats of paint

 Thanks Neil

I was well pleased with how it went. Also I must say that no models were hurt during the making of these films  %)

Very impressive, I'm glad nothing got damaged when some of those waves came over her. I wouldn't fancy doing it with mine, look forward to seeing more soon. Dave.  :-))

O0...Paul....that footage is absolutely brilliant  :-)) ...just like a real lifeboat vessel

In OZ we say goooooooooooooooooo beyond the breakers & you did that with some good off shore water bound photographers  :embarrassed:

About the 2:42 mark we also see the vessel surfing back in.........

If you ever venture to OZ.......we can teach you to surf...........  {-) >>:-( .......brilliant ........Derek

What a boat, brilliant! The first Video had me holding my breath at several points. Would you spare the time to share with us the motor/ esc/ battery set up you have used as I'm using rewound scooter motors running on 36v and there is so much inefficiency in the drive chain that they don't last very long. I know that the technology powering your boat is far superior, but to be honest I don't understand it.

Many thanks

Paul.

 Thanks for the comments guys

Would you spare the time to share with us the motor/ esc/ battery set up you have used
The motors are brushless outrunners 5055 580kv, the esc are Turnigy 180amp and I use two 4 cell 6ah lipo batteries one for each motor. When running her at the local pond the lipo's last about 30 minutes at a sensible speed %%. The 12v gell cell is for the sound system, bilge alarm and cooling pump.

Paul ..... %) ...did she run out of puff @ the 6.00 minute mark?...... >>:-(
I got about 20 minutes running from two sets of lipo's, the video was shortend.

hi stoney

do the motors you have used have an 8mm shaft? if so where do u get the couplings from?
i have a tornado thumper 5055 motor with an 8mm shaft for my cygnus cyclone model and haven't yet found a coupling big enough.

thanks

Hi Paul,

Sorry to hear about your father, it must be difficult.

On a happier note, the model is looking very nice indeed and I look forward to seeing more updates

 Good evening all

A job that I've been thinking about for some time now and kept putting off was the fendering. After some trial and error with moulding my own which wasn't successful I decided
to make it out of plywood. A few pictures of how I made them, turned out pretty good me thinks, still a few more to make yet
