Drive options for 39" Vic Smeed Vosper 1:24

 :-)
Hi all,
a friend in our boating circle has a balsa (very light) model of MTB 49 as featured in MM337 plan set. Currently he has it set up witha futaba ESC a 7.2V 3600 Ni cad pack and running a "goldfire" branded brushed motor which I understand is a model aircraft type similar in dimensions to the 540s. It is running too hot and while water cooling etc is all an option he is asking for advice on a conventional motor to put in its place. The model gets up on a gentle plane but is not noticably fast. He is swinging a 40mm 2 blade prop of the racing boat style. one of the plastic ones with significant pitch.
He is happy with the speed but wants to do away with the overheating issues.
Any help appreciated thanks

Change the prop, go for a 30-35 brass Raboesch prop or similar, they have a pitch very close to the diameter, you will probably find the speed remains the same ok2.

If you want to keep the same prop a Speed 600 9.6  on 7.2 volts would be OK, A BB version of the same voltage would be slower and more efficient.
