These are the covers for the airbags that were retro fitted to the Tyne after numerous refits made the self-righting capabilities of the boat too close to limits for peace of mind with the RNLI. They are there to guarantee that the boat will return to the upright state after a knock-down. ;) This picture shows a pair of bags under test during a Tyne refit.

This is the state of build with my current 1/12th scale Tyne RNLB Phil Mead 47-008. These picture were taken during the 'sea trials' last week. I have also built the Boathouse and now am constructing the slipway to allow proper launches! ;)

I always use sealed lead acid batteries, one 6v 10 amp hour in this case. I always believe in making the ballast work for a living!! ;)
Running time never concerns me as I only sail to make sure that the boat does what I intended it to do and spend a lot of time with the boat 'parked' in the water. Also after about 3/4 to 1 hour I get bored and go home!!
