Sound from boiler/pressure regulator
« on: January 18, 2011, 02:08:25 pm »

Hello

I have a Maccsteam 3.5” horizontal boiler. On this I have mounted a Forest Classics boiler pressure regulator. When the pressure is at the sett point and the regulator throttles down the gas flow I get a continuous sound like a deep whistle. Sounds like some kind of resonance. Is there anyone else that have experienced this and can suggest a fix?

Hi Helgebe,

Sounds like a fairly normal resonating diaphragm noise to me, unusual on small valves, but not impossible.

Hello!
I have the same noice on one of mine. It helps me to know that my burner is on.So I don't touch.
Apparently this is due to the length of the cheminey. It works like an organ. Try to extend it a bit an check.
It may also come from the  burner's position too much in or out.
But at the end, this is not a problem! :-))
Regards
