Hi
I have had a Dusseldorf for about 25 years or so now. It runs on two Navy Kompact motors suggested in the instructions, I run these on 12volts and it goes very fast
and I have no trouble with them at all.

Navy Kompacts are a 550 motor on a 2 or 3:1 gearbox so your MFA's should be fine.

I thought these were 6V motors?

They are basically a 550 motor so can be run up to 12 volts.

Hi.
I don't know I have been running them on  12 volt 7amp sealed lead acid batteries for many many years and the boat flys along, will run for about 15mins going full speed most of the time, including some water squirting, lights and siren, and the motors don't get hot and as I say they are still going strong, never had to touch them at all since they first went in.

hi there Richard

many moons ago - I built the Robbie Dusseldorf for my son, he was aged about 9 then.  I fitted it with the Navy Compact Motors; it ran quite well on 6 volts - a bit slow - but a lot better on 12 volts and so I put larger props on her and dropped it down to 6 volt and it ran for years like that.   One word of warning though, dont hand this model over to a 9 year old son and enter him into a steering competiton - he wins all the prizes  %%

Hi ya there you have to remember my son is now 25  %%  model was sold to another modeller a good while ago now.    But from memory - the props were roughly about 50 mm  3 bladers plastic ones.    Not 100 % sure though.

I run 50mm brass 3 blades [r/h & l/h] on mine,  its fitted with original kit navy lompats, but yes the 550's are still useable, provided you go vai a 3:2 gearbox, to reduce rpm, but increase the torque to pull the props.
Run on 12v, no problem at all.

It pulls and turns better than a torpedo boat ! especiually with the 4 rudders, but dont forget to retro fit the transom flap to prevent the stern from sinking too deep in the water.
