My constant browsing of ebay has led me to a brill find,an old Mardave F1Grand Prix racer, rolling chassis with the original body and wing. I've put modern electics in her and changed her to running on just four cells. The car was based on an extended ministock chassis, with ministock running gear. Here's some pics of her restoration. :-))

Well I have read this forum from start to finish and all I can say is great stuff. I really didnt know that these 1/12th scale cars were so popular and I have never heard of Carpet Racing that would be fun.
I do Tanks as you probaably know and looking through my bunch of Models hidden in the shed I found a 1/10 scale Chinese R/C car still in the box. I havent even run it and 2 large plastic R/c Semi Trailers I think you call them Lorries over there haha and 3 R/C motorbikes by Venom Class GPV1 which havent been used either. I have used one Motorbike and I did I must admit really enjoy it.
So after reading your stuff might crank one or 2 of these thingies up and see how they go. If no good I have always got my Tanks to blast the Pooh out of em. Im working on a Diorama with 2 Tiger Tanks for our Anzac Day ceremonies over here so will get some pikkies done when they are photo takeable.

I've always loved Rc cars, it was where i first started in Rc modeling, Started with the Tamiya Mini Copper Electric, worked my way up through to touring in electric and then into IC, ended up competing in 1:8th scale Ic buggy hill climbing and 1:5 Scale touring. I lost the feel for that side of the hobby out of shear boredom and well quite a few 'Idiots'
Only so many times i wish to go round the track at 60mph and end up having some twit crash into me damaging steering, servo's bending chassis. I think i spent the best part of 5k over a period of 2 years in Ic competition (1:5th scale) the Ic buggy never died and she now lives with my brother on HMS Cumberland, racing around the deck when he gets a clear 5 mins!

I walked into boating pretty soon after and decided to follow in my fathers footsteps, to be honest... i get more out of making model boats then i ever did racing Cars around the track, or up hills, this is why fast electrics don't appeal to me, only so much of going round in circles one can take.

Oh ands its cheaper to fix when you crash, which pleases SWIMBO no end

Truer Words were never said. Yes there are so many Models to choose from, I started off on Helicopters which I still love, went to tanks, have about 8 EDF Jets which I have never flown just liked them they all work though with radio gear in case I one day get the urge. Today I ran a 1/10 scale motor bike and then the Venom GPV smaller version and I was astounded by their speed truly amazing. After a few spills I finally got the hang of the cornering business and away I went, great fun

Like you Runner,I became very disillusioned with the mentallity of the petrolheads in the club, and their 'Nitro is everything"outlook. I almost caused WW3 by saying that it was an R/C club, not just a nitro one.Needless to say,I no longer race 1/8th off-road,and now just race the Mardaves, which are much more of a laugh than the seriousness of the nitro fraternity.Like you,I must have spent a good couple of grand on the nitro scene over the two years that I raced them. The Mardaves on the otherhand are as cheap as chips in comparison, e.g. a pair of 'A' arms cost just over two pounds, and a new C/S chassis just 6.50 :-))
