my new mk3 vosper corvette mmi plan
« on: March 24, 2011, 10:33:54 pm »

in october 2009 after finishing my second boat ( first one i had to make) trueblue i got addicted to model boats i had been going down my local club a lot and was inspierd to do something navy style so i askd a member (who works in a model shop) if he had any plans instock i went into the shop and he pointed to the latetst mmi ( marine modeling internatinal) wich had the plan for a flat hulled mk3 vosper corvette, as i fell down some stars at school and i t is very painfull, to move so i made th best of a day of school uable to easily move i put some hrad board on my lap and asked my mum to get my tools, back to the boats history, with the help of my fellow club members i had done the hull and put the prop shaft in then i joined the club and made the mistake a lot of modelers make i started a new project and then i started a new prodject my landing craft wich is close to being finishedhttp://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=27364.0and today i finished the vosper all thats left is the life rafts wich are in the post and the rudder wich i didnt have and know it needs a coat of paint and the servo putting in so a good days work

Welcome to the Mk 3 fan club  O0
What have you called her?
Dorina or Otabo? both mean Hippopotamus in native languages.
If you ever decide to build a more accurate model I have some of Vospers original plans and photos.
Mine is 1:48 made from ply, styrene, perspex and brass.
Rather top heavy.  :(( but looks good on the water when it's calm.

i have one question where did you get the guns
yours is a lot more accurate than mine i lost the plans and have one page of picks of he model finished it seems impossible to find the plans or picks online my bridge house is a lot diffrent i will see about changing that and i think my one is 1/48th once Ive done this one  if it works well and looks good i  will build another one i defiantly had fun building it and a more scale accurate one would be brilliant yours looks very nice in the watter which makes me want to get mine in the watter a s p

thats a rather good looking grey ship , do you have any further details , eg length / scale etc ? it could compliment the earlier vosper that i completed last summer . jon

Hi Krafty Kid
Dorina was all scratchbuilt. Inspiration from a cover of 'Model Boats'
The gun drawings were from article in 1971 Model Boats featuring the late Norman A. Ough drawings.
The 4" shield was a real problem to get right.
John Lambert has detail drawings of the 4" on Mk. XIX mounting.
Scale is 1:48 about 1300 mm. long (just fits across the back seat of the car)

Yes, each boat is on davits.
I have tried to reduce the size of a photo to under the required 161 kb but without success.
Send me a pm if you would like some more photos.
