Hello !
Tonight, I show you my ABEILLE 24.
Built in 1929 by : Cockrane & sons in Selby UK.
Engine = 3 cyl - 1300 IBH
 39 m long.
June 1940 : seized by Germans - Sep 1940 use as a mine sweeper and so hit by one. Scrapped in Brest same year.

Mine is 1.25 m long & weights 22 kg w/  650cc H2O.
She is moved by a JMC assy. Motor = 5 cc . Boiler and others are JMC (not Anton like I say in the video). Propeller =75mm / 4 blades.
Autonomy is 35/40 min . Working pressure 2 to 3 bars.

(You wouldn't see air intakes as they are in a drawer of my work shop. They will be installed this week.) {:-{
You can see the power of this small motor on the photos and on the second part of the video = 1/4 turn valve wide open and full ahead.
Thank you for looking! ok2

Kno, I have two boats on which the steam comes up the funnel and I will never build another with this arrangement, they can all go out the side from now on as far as I am concerned. One has a Cheddar boiler and Cheddar oil condensor, the other a Model Components (Australia) boiler and a large Cheddar condensor/catch tank or whatever you want to call it. I do not know whether it is because I am only running fairly small engines, fairly low pressure, fairly cool steam or some other reason but I often get spits of oil out the funnel which makes a mess all over the boats. Oil also dribbles back down the funnel in to the flue causing spitting, smoke and blowback of the burner. These are both commercially made setups, not home made and I empty them often so I do not know why they do not trap all the oil but until somebody can tell me how to stop them making a mess I will put the exhaust out the side in future. Regards, Ian.

Hard to say without seeing your set-ups. Why not make a topic about this problem, with a few good pictures?

Good evening!
I understand your problem Kiwimodeller! O0 I had the same problem ,... before!
But , and it will be discussed heavily for sùre,  I personnally do not put too much oil in my motors. Virtually nothing.
Firts: all my boat are set with an oil separator and i can by pass its outlet to the cheminey or on the side as I wish.
When I warm up my motor, this is where the most of the oil is coming thru (the top of the oiler). I am connected on the side at this time. When steam comes out clean with virtually no oil, I can leave it this way or connect onto the cheminey.
Normally, when it is hot and if you are not too generous with lube, your boat should stay clean. At least as much as a steam boat could be.  ok2
I hope  that I have been of some help!
Regards!
