Anyone interested in "fun" ie. lighthearted boats?
« on: June 08, 2011, 01:10:37 pm »

In a novelty/bit of fun bodged build or is it not worth posting?  Most models here seem to be high quality scale models so don't wanna post it if all I'll get is laughed at lol

You should never be embarrassed to post your builds, not everyone can afford decent kits, or have the ability's to scratch build works of art.

Posting will not only share your work, but will also encourage help when your stuck & ''constructive criticism'' its a learning curve not just for you but others in a similar boat  {-) pun intended!

At the end of it all ... as long as you enjoy what you do and wish to share it, do you really care what other think? I know i don't O0 just remember we like pictures  :-))

Get on boy and get posting!

Bikerdude, I glad you asked that question because I'm about to start my very first build and was wary about posting pics in case the invited criticism but reading RR's post and The Long Build's I will take their advice and post the pics and show everyone and hopefully invite helpful advice and guidance.

Andy,

Does your Guild have a branch south of the border near Liverpool because I think I might meet one of the requirements to qualify for membership.

Cheers

Consider yourself sir the Founding Member of the Liverpool Branch and thank you for doubling the UK membership in one stroke, if we keep growing at this rate we can hold our Annual Conference in the Millenium Dome...how appropriate...

Post away mate. I spend most of my time bodging together bits and pieces to make my models.

It gives me more pleasure to turn a bit of plastic strip and a couple of aerosol can tops into an eight man canister life-raft for one of my lifeboats than going out and buying one !!  Plus I am a true Yorkshireman as far as spending money on things that I can make myself !!  :-))

If your 'bodging' gives you pleasure then no one has the right to criticize your efforts, they may give 'constructive advise' if you ask for it. That's my outlook on other peoples modelling for what it's worth. 8)

Ok well I'll post up some pics of it in a bit.

Any suggestions as to which section I should post it in?

And lol Andy, it's that duck I had the bits off you for...

Hi dude,

How's about a Duck Mk.II  or something similar as a good home for (another ok2) set of Baby Severn internals? As an aside I know that masses of people bought the baby Sev which is a cracking little boat which could just perhaps do with more powerful running gear and RC so there must be more than a few sets of working Severn internals (Rx, Tx, motor pods and battery case) out there which could be used to power some small, light, fun easybuild models to encourage the youngsters and their Dads alike...as I am not a great scratchbuilder due to time restraints (spending too long on here :embarrassed:, the Forum is too good Martin!) we could all do with seeing and hearing of more fun, economy quickbuild boats to develop our skills and most importantly get us all together out on the water...roll on Wicky 2012..."are we there yet"!

...Hi Guys...

The best Fun Boats in the Glasgow area must be the WEE NIP Sailing boats...

Especially when the cocktail sticks and balloons are used to play Battle Nips...

...Best Regards...Norry...
